What is the PTA?

PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association. A PTA is a formal group of parents, teachers, and school staff who work together to support a school. Harford Hills Elementary School PTA, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and is a member of the Baltimore County PTA Council, Free State (Maryland) PTA, and the National PTA.  The National PTA celebrated 125 years of supporting schools and students in 2026!

PTAs often raise money to fund schools beyond what the school's budget may provide. Examples include extra school supplies, funding for field trips or STEM labs, and sponsorship of family events. Funds are raised via a small, annual membership fee and other fundraising events. The goal isn't strictly financial though. PTAs seek to develop and sustain a vibrant, engaged, and collaborative community that supports the learning and well-being of ALL students.

At Harford Hills Elementary, the PTA sponsors at least one monthly activity for all families. Check our school calendar for dates, and the What's Happening at The Hill section of our main page for flyers with details, including opportunities to help plan and support our events.
